SBNL's Enhancements for Crew Morale, Welfare, and Training


The Santa Barbara Navy League is committed to providing the USS Stockdale
with equipment to enhance the crew's shipboard life.

Part of your contribution to the USS Stockdale Adoption Campaign will be used to provide equipment intended to support crew Morale, Welfare, Recration, and Education. Here is a partial list of the equipment that we propose to provide:

  • Satellite TV Hardware and Service
    • Allows sailors to watch TV while ship is at sea.
  • Additional television sets for Crews' Lounges and Fitness Center
    • Enable the crew to keep up with events 'back at home' while relaxing or working out.
  • Large-format projector and sound system
    • Enable entire crew to watch movies on flight deck and helicopter hanger.
  • San Diego Chargers or Padres season tickets
    • Individual tickets presented as 'special performance awards' to deserving Sailors.
  • USS STOCKDALE Ballcaps with “plankowner” embroidered on the back
    • Given to the ship's first (plankowner) crew. Navy funds cannot be used to purchase them.
  • On-board Ship-maneuvering simulator
    • Installed and maintained on board ship. Used by crew to practice vital shiphandling skills.
  • Laminated poster art for crew dining areas and shipboard HERITAGE SPACE
    • Soften the ship's 'sharp edges' and preserve a reminder of life on the mainland.
  • Sailor of the Day / Quarter / Year Awards
    • Support 'Special Recognition', on a regular bases, of outstanding USS Stockdale crew members
